Built by a teacher, for the classroom.
Equata was born out of a real 5th-grade classroom and has grown into an adaptive math suite for Grades 1–6 built to develop flexible thinking, mathematical fluency, and deep number sense while keeping students genuinely engaged.
Why I Built Equata
As a teacher, I noticed a recurring problem: traditional math drills were boring my students, and existing math games didn't actually challenge their flexible thinking. I wanted to build something that deepened their number sense while drastically increasing the fun and engagement in the room.
I built Equata for my own students to bridge the gap between rote memorization and true mathematical fluency. When I saw how much they loved games like Target, Seeker, and Blitz, I knew I had to share it across grade levels. Equata is a living platform; we are continually developing new game modes, and I actively rely on feedback from educators like you to shape what we build next.
But I also needed a tool for myself. I was tired of grading papers that only told me if an answer was right or wrong, not how a student got there. I built the teacher analytics dashboard so educators could finally see their students' strategies in real-time, identify exact learning gaps, and intervene right when it matters most.
